Arezzo

The city of Arezzo is located in a hilly area in eastern Tuscany, between the provinces of Florence and Siena. The city is in a valley where the valleys of the Casentino area, the higher Valdarno area, Val di Chiana and Val Tiberina intersect.
"Arretium" was one of the most important and wealthy cities during the Etruscan reign and even today preserves some of the original defensive stone walls built around the city and numerous archeological areas.
Etruscans were and remain famous for their great ability in working with gold and thus is it no coincidence that Arezzo today is one of the major centers for jewelry and goldsmith craftsmanship in Italy.
The city was presented to worldwide audiences in several scenes of Roberto Benigni's movie, Life in Beautiful, which won an Oscar in 1998 for Best Foreign Movie.
