Chianti

The Chianti region extends along an area that cover both the provinces of Florence and Siena, reaching north to the surroundings of the city of Florence and to the south to the city of Siena.
Chianti wine is without a doubt one of the most famous products of the area, but it certainly is not the only element that has made the region one of the most appreciated in the world. Chianti is a territory rich not only in the cultivation of vineyards and olives, but also in ancient traditions, small villages and parishes, abbeys and castles rich is history.
The Chianti region was the backdrop to various battles between Florence and Siena. The most famous was the Battle of Montaperti of 1260, recalled by Dante in his Inferno, where the Florentine Guelphs and Sienese Ghibellines faced off each other in a bloody struggle.
