Garfagnana
The Garfagnana is an area located in the northwest corner of Tuscany, and separates the Apuan Alps from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The region encompasses 16 small, gracious towns within the province of Lucca.
Surrounded by mountains, the area is characterized by rich, thick woods and enriched by its small villages. The area offers visitors an extraordinary landscape and is particularly appreciated by keen hikers and those who enjoy fresh air and excursions in nature.

This site is dedicated to the network of galleries, caverns, pools and minerals which make up the underground complex of what is called the "Wind Cave" near Lucca. A section covers the origins of the cave, with three itineraries to follow (with a guide) and a photographic gallery shows off the shining stalactites and stalagmites and flowing alabaster curtains. The site has a map and directions for getting to the cave, as well as rates for the tours.
