Versilia

Versilia is located in north-western Tuscany, with the imposing Apuan Alps on one side and the Tyrrhenian Sea on the other.
The area is widely known as an important tourist resort. The cities of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi host many Italian and foreign visitors each year which come to the area for its beaches as well as its worldly lifestyle.
The Versilia is also famous for its characteristic Viareggio Carnival which takes place between February and March each year, and for its marble, which is quarried from the local mountains near Carrara.
The shore of the Massacuiccoli Lake was the home to the world renown composer Giaccomo Puccini, as well as the location where many of his operas were created. Each summer, Torre del Lago honors the composer by organizing the famous Puccini Festival.

	Antro del Corchia - www.antrocorchia.it - Information on the Antro del Corchia, a cavern inside Mt. Corchia located at the edge of the Regional Park of the Apuan Alps in Versilia. The site contains information on reaching the entrance to the grotto and useful details for organizing a visit. The cavern and itinerary are described in detail, with a photographic gallery showing the stalactites and other features of the grotto. The site includes the hours for guided visits and cost of tickets.

Unfortunately, much of this information is only available in Italian at the moment.
